We're kicking off preseason on Jan. 6th presented by @OldTrapper Beef Jerky. #RCTID
Players will begin to report to the Timbers training facility on Friday, January 6 for the first phase of preseason training camp. From there, the squad will travel to the state of Arizona from January 15 - 21. In a slight change of venue, the Timbers will not be returning to Tucson, Arizona and will instead spend their time about 100 miles north in Phoenix.
While in Phoenix, the Timbers will play a closed door friendly against their 2023 season-opening opponents Sporting Kansas City.
Portland will conclude their preseason preparations by participating in the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational in Indio, California. The tournament will run from February 6 - 18 and feature 11 other MLS teams. The Timbers will play three matches while in California: against the LA Galaxy on February 12 at 10:30 a.m., against Toronto FC on February 15 at 2 p.m., and against NYCFC on February 18 at noon.
No information has been released about streaming any of the Invitational, and it can be assumed that none of Portland’s scheduled four preseason friendlies will have streaming options. For fans that are in the Indio, Calif. area, information on purchasing tickets can be found on the Coachella Valley Invitational’s website.
All of the above leads up to Portland raising the curtain on their 2023 MLS regular on February 25, when they host Sporting Kansas City at Providence Park at 7:30 p.m in their season opener.
