Portland Timbers vs FC Dallas: How to Watch, Preview, Match Chat [7:30]

MLS: Portland Timbers at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers are set to take on FC Dallas for the second time this season. Both teams will be shorthanded due to international call ups and both having just ended a rough patch with a win in their last match. Portland get to host this test of depth as two of the top Western Conference sides fight to keep their recent momentum going.

Both teams will want to secure 3 points as they try to climb back to the top of the table. Portland ended a 5 game winless streak with their 2-0 home victory over San Jose. While Dallas ended a 4 game winless streak with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Previews

Match Preview:

The Timbers will be without two key pieces of their midfield this weekend, Darlington Nagbe and David Guzman, as well as full back Alvas Powell on the back line. Powell’s absence will be felt, but he has been coming off the bench for the Timbers in the last two matches, replaced in the XI by a more technical player in Zarek Valentin. Nagbe and Guzman, however, are absences that will force the Timbers into a significant shift in the way that they approach the game, particularly in the attack.
