Confirmed: Thorns Sign Swiss Forward Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic

[Updated 3/27]

After Mark Parsons hinted in preseason that a new signing was forthcoming, and following reports from the Oregonian last week, the Thorns have confirmed the signing of Swiss national team player Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic. Crnogorcevic will join the club after the April FIFA window.

The 27-year-old striker currently plays for FFC Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga and has 45 goals in 84 caps with Switzerland. She won the Champions League with Frankfurt in 2015, defeating Olympique Lyon in the final.

Caitlin Foord was expected to take the fourth international spot held by the Thorns this year, but she will likely be placed on the injury list soon, which would mean that she will not count against the international spots. Whether Cernogorcevic will remain at the club after Foord recovers remains to be seen.
