Major League Soccer announced today that Portland Timbers forward Dairon Asprilla was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 33. Asprilla scored his tenth goal of the season in spectacular fashion to double the Timbers’ lead in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday in Providence Park.

In the 55th minute, Aprilla latched onto a ball spilled by the San Jose goalkeeper. Asprilla popped the ball up to himself with his back to goal before attempting the audacious. The Colombian bicycle kicked the juggled ball over the out-of-position keeper and into the back of the net.

Asprilla has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for the third time this season (Week 18, 28 and 33). The forward has scored 17 goals in his Timbers career 10 of which have come in 2021 and he has become just the club’s eighth player to score 10 or more goals in a single MLS season.
The Timbers are back in action against Real Salt Lake in Sandy, Utah. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. PST on Wednesday, October 27.
