The Portland Timbers confirmed Monday night that Jaroslaw Niezgoda suffered a torn ACL on Sunday. He will miss the rest of the season.
Niezgoda was injured late in Sunday’s match against the Vancouver Whitecaps and had to be taken out on a stretcher. He is scheduled to have surgery on Nov. 9 and will have a timetable for his return determined after that.
Before the injury, Niezgoda was having a solid first year with the club. The Polish striker had eight goals and two assists in 20 appearances (seven starts), with seven of those coming in regular-season play. He also ends his first season with the club with the third-highest scoring percentage in MLS history at 58.3%.
