Zman got a lot of stick on here sometimes (and some of it was fair, as it ended up that USL was about his level in the end with the improvement of MLS), but the guy had a lot of heart and appeared to like playing in Portland, and there were definitely a couple of times many of us thought he was about to break through. (also apparently was always the fittest guy on the team). I think this is the evolution of the league to see a lot of these journey-man style Americans begin to retire (Zizzo last year, being another example, although he seemed to stay a little bit higher level than Zman). I never knew that he was born in Pittsburg, so I guess it's fitting that he ended his career there playing with the Riverhounds last year.
Once a Timber, always a Timber.
Congrats on the career Ben (and enjoy that MLS Cup ring!)
