We expect Jose "Trencito" Valencia to be cleared for training with the team tomorrow. He's worked extremely hard in his rehab efforts.
Will he see some minutes in the reserves before the year is out? It looks like a distinct possibility.

Finally some good news!
Any ideas if we get to see him on the pitch?!

I can't wait to see what he brings to this side
He looked so promising back in the preseason. Here’s hoping we somehow don’t mess this up.
RCTID, no matter what.

By Promising?
You mean his barely known reputation was promising? His knee was discovered to have a flaw requiring surgery on the 2nd day of training and if I recall that first practice wasn’t exactly the most hyped event in the world crawling with fans.

Well,
There were highlight videos from the U20 World Cup. They looked kinda promising.
But yeah, we don’t have much to go on. Until this week.

Also, as someone who was at the first practice...
He looked promising.

Excited to hear this today
Glad that he’s made enough of a recovery to be getting some practice time in before the season’s over. We have two months left this season, even if the games start thinning out soon. Hope that he can play for the reserve matches soon, and what a treat it’d be if he could play on Sunday in the reserve match, which the FO is trying their best to sell out. A fuller house would definitely give him a warm welcome, even if it’s only for 5 minutes as a cameo at the end.

Good news for him and the team. I’d be a little surprised if they actually ‘activated’ him at this point since it would mean waiving a player. No reason, it would seem, to waive someone just to give another guy four sub appearances in a lost season. Might as well let the new coach take a look at the guy you’re thinking of waiving. Anyway, great news for Jose. Hopefully he’s still eligible to get into a couple of reserve matches.

Thought and question
I’m really glad he’s ready to jump in. I think the Timbers really need some time with him to see what his value really is.
My question is on the reserve matches. At some level I assumed the Timbers had a short term contract with him to get him healthy and evaluate him and then essentially an option to get his services long term if he really recovers. Does anyone really understand how this works and/or fits with him playing in reserve matches?

There are very few rules on who suits up for Reserve matches
at least that is what I’m lead to believe since trialists, U-23 Timbers, even academy players have shown up in Reserve matches.
